Warhammer - Rise of the Titan
The Southern Locke is a mostly forgotten corner of the empire, slowly dying under the weight of its own corruption. Situated far from other centers of civilization, the mines that once attracted people to these lands have all but dried out, the great Orshado River that once drove its trade has been supplanted by gentler, safer routes, and the national boundaries that once made its location tactically important have long since shifted away as the empire subsumed its neighbors.
Though the area it occupies is large, the population here is small and decreasing rapidly. Only three settlements of any real size remain, along with less than two dozen small villages. Without the mines to attract mew residents most see little reason to inhabit the area, especially the open, arid regions in the southernmost part of the Locke. In those dry wilds many of the boom towns have been abandoned, leaving only dusty, empty ghost towns to remind visitors that there was ever anything in the region of value.Known Settlements of the Locke:
- Talaska: The largest and oldest city in the Locke. Once a great metropolis the city now feeds on itself like a bloated corpse, too stuborn to admit that its time has passed.
- Edson: A small city standing as the gateway to the Southern Locke. Ruled by merchant families and gangs whose strength and influence grows daily, Edson has a reputation for debauchery and sin. Its the kind of place where anything can be had for a price.
- Sandlewood: The most prosperous of the remaining mining towns in the Locke, the wealth that flows from beneath its hills may not be what it once was, but it is far from played out.
